Fat Olive Restaurant owners Dino and Carla Dassie opened their restaurant in Dorchester a few shorts months ago. It has been a dream of Dino’s to open an Italian restaurant for quite some time. He was born into an Italian family where he inherited a passion for cooking from his time spent in the kitchen with his mom and aunts. Dino later obtained a Business Administration and Marketing diploma from Conestoga College but put his dreams on hold to pursue a truck driver position. However, this didn’t stop Dino from cooking for family and friends at parties and other gatherings. It was after receiving a large amount of interest in his food that Dino explored the possibility of opening his own restaurant. After in-depth research and attending the famous pizza school in New York – Goodfellas Pizzeria with his wife Carla, it was time to open the Italian restaurant of his dreams.
Carla and Dino say Dorchester was the perfect location for Fat Olive because it’s the place they’ve called home for 15 years. They love the small town atmosphere including knowing their neighbours well and how everyone lends a helping hand. Dino and Carla also thought that Fat Olive would be a good addition to Dorchester because there wasn’t another restaurant like theirs in the area. Dino hired locally when they opened their restaurant and recently added a new local Head Chef to the team. Based on continuous growth, they may be looking to add more members to their team in the near future but for now, they are looking for a Kitchen Supervisor and Server! They take pride in the food they make and the level of service that’s offered. Their delicious menu is full of authentic Italian dishes made with fresh local ingredients at affordable prices.
Customers should note that Fat Olive Restaurant seats 28 people so reservations are strongly recommended. In 2019, customers can expect daily specials, weekly features and more. Be sure to stay tuned to their website and Facebook page for updates! Fat Olive is for all customers, “if you would like to sit and enjoy your experience at lunch, no problem. If you have to get in and out quickly because you work, again no problem, we can accommodate that too,” says Carla. She also mentioned they have a takeaway menu where customers can call in an order, pick it up and take it to go. Fat Olive Restaurant is dedicated to serving exceptional food, created with only the finest ingredients, and creating a wonderful atmosphere and experience for all customers.
