Middlesex County Council has approved a new five-year Economic Development & Tourism Strategic Plan, setting a clear direction for investment attraction, business growth, and tourism promotion across the region. The plan focuses on strengthening Middlesex County's industrial and commercial base, supporting existing employers, preparing employment lands for development, and promoting the region as a competitive destination for investment, talent, and visitors. The "Economic Development and Tourism Year-End Review" from Middlesex County highlights key achievements and progress made in the area's economic and tourism sectors throughout the year. The report showcases successful business growth, infrastructure developments, and community initiatives aimed at boosting the local economy. Additionally, it emphasizes ongoing efforts to attract investment, support local enterprises, and enhance tourism experiences, positioning Middlesex County as a dynamic and thriving region for both business and visitors.

The Middlesex County Community Improvement Support Program (CISP) provides financial support to Middlesex County local municipalities to enhance their locally adopted Community Improvement Plans (CIPs), consistent with the authority under Section 28(7.2) of the Planning Act.

The CISP is aligned with Middlesex County’s strategic objectives, including economic revitalization, employment growth, industrial/commercial investment, and the expansion of affordable and attainable housing options.

Support may be provided through three distinct funding streams, each targeting different community development outcomes:

Stream 1 – General Property Revitalization
Stream 2 – Industrial & Commercial Development
Stream 3 – Housing-Related Development

Middlesex County, in its role as the Destination Marketing Organization (DMO), is offering sponsorship as a means to foster partnerships between our local tourism stakeholders. The intention of “Visit Middlesex sponsorship” is to help stakeholders create new experiences that elevate community presence, attract new visitors, and support the local economy.

This report provides tourism operators and investors with clear responses to common policy and planning issues, to facilitate and encourage further investment in the Middlesex County tourism industry.
